I
first got the
idea for Marshall in A contest. The Mask was being given away as a
prize. Even though I didn't win the idea stuck with me. So I got ahold
of the person holding the contest (Jekyll & Hyde) and purchased
the
mask. His name just popped into my head and stuck!
| I
loosely based his size on me. I didn't measure I just wrapped the chickenwire around me to get approx. size. Here is the torso and legs, I just wired them up and wired them together. |
|
| Here
I began the pvc frame. I cut 2pieces 0f 2x4 to fit in a pair of my old boots, then drilled a hole through the 2x4 and heel. Stuffed scrap foam inside to fill up boots, then tied them up. |
|
| I
am sorry I didn't take a pic of finished frame. I ran the pvc to just above the legs, then ran it to a T in the middle, ran that up to a cross at the neck, then ran to pieces out to the arms. I then took a piece of chickenwire over the top wiring front and back to form shoulders. Next I wired the pvc to chickenwire. I took an old t-shirt put it on the frame and pulled it tight then wired that to chickenwire. As you can sorta see I also had to put the pants partially on, he was going to be to big to do it after. |

|
Here
I took some bucky bones and hotglued them to the shirt.
I had to use a heat gun to get them to bend in the shape I wanted. I then took a piece of foam shaped it a little and glued it to the center. Then taking some wood filler I had lying around filled in the gaps making a ribcage (sorta). LOL Once
again thanx for the bones and the hands Maz.
|
|
| I
then coated the whole thing with a generous supply of
monstermud. I wanted a hard shell to work with |
|
| Once the MM was dry I gave it a thin coat of latex then put a layer of cheesecloth over it, pushing the cloth in and around ribcage and pulling snug just below it. Then I continued to put layers of latex over the cheesecloth letting each one set a bit until I could nolonger see the cheesecloth. This took awhile!! | |
| Once that was dry on to paint! I had to match the paint on the mask. This took some doing. In the end I put 5 layers of paint. A base coat of gray, then beige, peach, purple, and a final coat of beige again to blend the colors together. once that was dry I pulled up his pants, it just didn't look right me working on him till I did that! LOL | |
| I
also had to repaint the hands. Here I am testing there fit on the chickenwire arms I put together. Fit perfect! |
|
| Here
I have taken the chickenwire arms and wired them to the
pvc. I did not glue arms in place I wanted to be able to move them a little. So I drilled several holes through the pvc so I was able to secure the pvc in different positions. |
|
| This
is just a full body shot before I put him together. I didn't take pics of the head, all I did was take a piece of pvc wrap and tape a bunch of newspaper on it then put a plastic bag inside mask, put pvc inside and sprayed a can of greatstuff foam inside and let set. It didn't turn out exactly like I'd hoped but to fill the mask the rest of the way I just shoved rest of plastic bag inside. |
|
| There
he is folks! My cemetery security. Marshall stands 6'8" and will put a hurtin' on anyone who messes with my cemetery!!! LMAO The coat I found at goodwill, it was green dyed it black. The Hat he's wearing is mine, to me he just looks better with it. In case you haven't guessed the bandana is on him to hide the edges of the mask. |
