Grave Markers

Real grave marker I saw this grave marker and immediately wanted a
version for my haunt.
I went to my foam stash and found 2 lengths of
foam that had been cut at a slight angle. This was perfect for
what I wanted. I cut it into 6 sections.
angled foam
I cut 6 pieces of pink foam for a plaque.I wanted
them all to be a bit different. Like on this one
I framed it with strips of foam, sanding down the
edges.
This I was told is very popular with the younger
kids. I have found out it also brings a grin to
adult faces as well. LOL
I used pieces of dowel to frame this one. Just glued them to the edges.
The other 4 a different versions of the foam and
dowels.
I bought these on discount at WallyWorld, they
where on sale after Halloween. These are self adhesive stickers.
They can still be found year round in the craft section for
about 5 bucks. At first I used Liquid Nails
to stick them on, then tried hot glue, finally I tried
just sticking them on. All 3 ways worked.
I attached the plaques on the angled foam with
Liquid Nails. I also cut bases for them and attached them, to
complete the basic shape.
Here are all 6 ready for paint.
On 2 of them I decided to add a a skeleton in a pose.
These skeletons I bought at Dollar Tree for a buck.
The other one will be seen at the bottom of the page.
These are very light so I drilled a couple of holes and
glued in some pvc. Stick a couple of pieces of
rebar in the ground slide it over them and there not going anywhere.
I gave them all a base coat of medium gray paint.
I want each to look a bit different so I gave them all a
different look by marbling each with different colors.
I also aged the plaques with a mix of watered down
acrylic paints, black and green. I didn't like the
way the skeletons blended in so I repainted them to match
the plaques.
