We'll
start with the stand.
Not much to it really. I took 2 sections of 2x4 and cut about half way down the center, the width of a 2x4, then screwed them together. Grabbed a thick dowel rod and drilled a hole in the back of one of the 2x4's then glued the dowel rod in place. |
| Now I took a 3ft skeleton and removed the head and wired the body to the stand. | ![]() |

Now I was hoping to find a way to make the arms and legs pose able, I couldn't figure that out so I chose a pose I liked and went with that. I had to remove the arms then cut the wire rings holding the parts together. next I drilled holes in the bones at points that would match the pose I wanted when they where put together. I put it together with pieces of dowel and hot glue. For the legs I just posed them and used hotglue to hold them in place. |

Now
comes part of
the body and
head. I took two 2-liter coke bottles, the first I cut the top right
section off making a hole just big enough for the head to fit in, the
second I cut the whole top section off . I took the first one and glued
the head inside of the bottle, then attached the second to the bottom
of the first. I then put a hole through the bottle so the
dowel
would fit and glued that into place.
To make some sort of body I took a manilla folder to
wrap
around
the bottom part of the torso(kinda like a diaper, LOL) The top part of
the folder I trimmed down and slid it under the ribcage. To hold the
folder next to the ribs I stuffed with newspaper. When I got
it
to fit right I glued it all in to place. As you can see part of the bottle rests on the neck. I glued it there as well. |

Now it's time for Papier Mache.I started with taking strips and wrapping the head and covering the face (not the mouth). once that layer was done I went ot the back and lower torso cover the folder. I also was trying to hide the dowel as much as possible, I made it his spine on the back While this was drying I made up some papier mache clay (see tips and tricks). I used the clay to cover the joints of the arms and legs and to make a neck, I also used it to fill in lowlying areas under chin and around mouth . I continued to add 3 more layers (not enough now that I look back on it). Let totally dry. |
| The tail I took 2 long pieces of wire and attached them to the Lower torso. I then took sections of more 2-liter coke bottles, rolling them up and hotgluing to the wire. I continued this until I thought the tail was long enough. To hold the tail in place for the moment I took a 3rd piece of wire and wrapped it around the neck and hooked it to the other wires. If you click on picture you might be able to make it out. | ![]() |
| Well all I
have left are finished pics
so I will run through the last couple of things I did. I coverd the tail with 3 layers of papier Mache. Then to make spines on the tail I took pieces of cardboard and trimmed them half round then split the cardboard part way so I had 2 flaps to glue on to the tail. I then used papier mache clay to blend the spines with the tail. The spikes on the back I took Powerade caps , put a small hole in the middle then ran a short piece of wire through it and hot glued it in , I took this contraption and glued 4 of them to his back. Next I took the clay again and molded it around the wire and covered the cap. This takes a lot of paitence! Once that was done I let it all dry. I painted him with gloss black and his teeth silver. You might see some green on him in the pics below , I couldn't get it to the way I liked so I just coated him all black. |
